Course: Understanding & Responding to Domestic Abuse

Audience: The course suits any professional working with adults and/or children.

Information: You will come away with a Certificate and a greater understanding of domestic abuse, such as its meaning, prevalence and stereotypes, and abuse in the context of relationships. We will also cover what to look out for, such as the possible indicators and the effects of abuse, including barriers to leaving. Finally, we cover in-depth the best practices for responding to domestic abuse.

Audience: This is perfect for those active within their communities, be that through work or volunteering.

Information: Gain a better awareness and understanding of Domestic Abuse, the issues people face, how Hopian can help, and how to signpost to specialist pathways should people need them. Also attending this session means you will be part of our Champions Network (of teaching assistants, hairdressers, charity workers and more) and allows you to benefit from our follow-on Learning & Development Group. You will also receive a Hopian Domestic Abuse Champion Certificate.
Domestic Abuse Champions Network Follow-On

Audience: This is a follow-on for those who took part in the previous Domestic Abuse Champions Training and are part of the Hopian DA Champions network.

Information:ย The DA Champions follow-on learning and development group offers a space to build upon learning by exploring other topics, such as a focus on specific types and impacts of domestic abuse, trauma-informed practice, and the impact of trauma.
It will also be an opportunity to meet, network, share and learn from other Hopian DA champions.

Information:ย In the session, we will cover: Hopian’s domestic abuse services; how Hopian supports adults, young people, and children; how to make a referral for someone as a professional; and when to use the DASH risk identification tool.
Up2U: a 5-week course for parents & caregivers
Time & Dates: Starting from August on a rolling basis.
Duration: 5 weeks.

Audience: This course is specifically for parents and caregivers who are affected by domestic abuse or an unhealthy relationship.
