Fundraisers supporting our 50th year & how you can make an impact

We are delighted and so very proud of the fundraisers who have decided to stand with Hopian to mark our 50th year, from schools, to businesses, to individuals – incredible people and organisations, who, like us, believe that to affect change for others, action is required. Taking part yourself doesn’t have to be difficult at all; we have some great ideas further below!

For five decades, Hopian’s work has been sustained by community support, from individuals, schools, businesses and groups who believe everyone deserves safety and hope. (Read more about our history – click here.)

    Community fundraising highlights

    Wickersley School and Sports College
Students and staff raised an incredible £4,814 through sponsored walks, non-uniform days and cake sales, a brilliant example of a school community supporting local services.

    TDF Burlesque
Local performers from TDF Burlesque raised £11,308 through charity performances, using creativity and art to support survivors of domestic abuse.

    Specsavers
We are pleased to be building links with Specsavers, with collection tins now placed in branches at Crystal Peaks, Norton and Archer Road, Rotherham. Teams are also working with us to organise a fundraising day later this year.

Funds raised help provide high-risk specialist support, recovery services and prevention work with children and young people.

Can you do 50k for 50 Years?

We marked the start of our anniversary year in January when our CEO, Sue Wynne, completed a 50k sponsored walk over the course of a month, highlighting both our 50-year journey and the importance of sustaining local domestic abuse services.

We are now inviting our wider community to take part.

Set your own challenge — your way, your pace. 50k for 50 Years is flexible and inclusive. You might:

    • Walk, run, cycle, swim, or choose something completely different.
    • Complete your challenge in a week, a month, or longer.
    • Take part on your own or with friends, family or colleagues.

Every challenge, big or small, helps support survivors and invest in prevention for the future.

    How to get involved
Set your own sponsored challenge, share your journey, and help spread the word. Together, we can turn 50 years of impact into a safer future.
